This past weekend I wanted to switch gears and work on getting a few backlinks for my blog. Now if you don’t know why we need backlinks, I suggest you stop right here and read my post on why links are important.
I can shoot out a list and tell you to follow them like everyone else, but what good would that do for you? I can tell you that the list I’m about to show you below, I have submitted my blog to all of them.
This list is a compilation of blog directories and blog network sites and it took me a little over half an hour to complete the submissions. I will explain why below…
Here’s what you can expect during submission:
- One Way Back Links: All the sites below will not require you to do reciprocal linking, meaning that you do not have to add a link on your site to submit your link on theirs.
- Some Registration: Most of these sites require you to register. If you don’t feel like submitting your personal email everywhere, just create a new email for link submissions.
- Must Be A Blog: Some of these sites only accept blog submissions. Sorry e-commerce sites!
Before you go and start submitting your sites, there’s a right way and wrong way of submitting your blog info, and that’s why it took me awhile to complete my submissions. The key is to vary your blog title, blog description, etc.
For Example, My blog title on one site said “Online Marketing Blog”, I would then change the title to something like “Blog Marketing Guide” on the next site, etc.
You want to change up the titles and descriptions with related keywords in your niche….WHY? By varying your submissions, it will look more natural this way.
Do People Still Get Backlinks?
Now many of you might not agree with getting backlinks through blog directories, etc. But backlinks are VERY important for SEO still and I can guarantee you if you’re not getting backlinks, then your competitors are….Still don’t believe me? Well, let’s see what’s been going around in the blogosphere:
- KeyWordLuv and CommentLuv: Many bloggers, including me, are using these two plugins for WordPress because it’s a great incentive for readers to leave comments. Why is it an incentive for your readers? Because it gives them backlinks!
- Guest Posting: Guest posting is two-fold. It gives the blogger rich and unique content for their blogs, but guest authors are getting a pretty good deal as well…..they’re getting backlinks!
- Signatures: In addition to exposing your brand in forums, by adding a link in your signature box you’re giving yourself, you guessed it, a backlink!
19 Sites To Submit Your Blog
Ok, enough of the yappin’….. here are the 19 sites that you can start submitting your blog today!
What’s Your Take?
Do you have a strategy for harvesting backlinks? Would you rather outsource this work instead of doing it by yourself? Would love to get this discussion going in the comments below.

This would be a great list, but did you know most of your links are broken? Looks like you added a space after each URL but left it WITHIN the link tags.
I think it would be interesting to find out which of these sites actually improves your traffic, etc.

Thanks for the list. Are all the links from this sites Dofollow? If they are nofollow, should we expect any change in the SE rankings?

From what I can remember, yes they’re Dofollow. Even if they NoFollow, you’ll still get that backlink. You just won’t get the PR juice from the site. I use the SearchStatus extension for FireFox so I can have all the NoFollow links on the page I’m on highlighted.

Ah, great list. I’ll need to add this to my to-do list. I usually get backlinks by submitting articles to all the top dofollow article directories, exchanging sites links on DigitalPoint forums, Blog commenting(such as this one) and many other ways. Outsourcing article creation is a big time-saver for me.

Great useful list, am already a member in some of the directories while some are very new to me, submitting to directories aside the backlink benefit if traffic comes from there they are usually targeted.
Thanks for the list.

Hi, Jack thanks for sharing this bunch of sites. Correct me If I’m wrong are all of these are blog directories? because I’ve gone through blogcatalog and the content are all blogs with different niches.

Not all are blog directories, some are blog cummunity sites like BlogCatalog.
Okay Jack thanks for the response. I’m done submitting my blog. As I observed I’m getting some visits from blogcatalog

Hi Zeng – You are right, a backlink is a backlink…no matter if its dofollow or nofollow.
I don’t think I’m on any of these blog directories. I’ve been focused on bookmarking pages with really good success.

I’ve slowly started building backlinks, I had previously heard that they weren’t that necessary anymore due to search engine changes but I’ve also heard otherwise.
As per outsourcing, are there any cheap reputable companies or individuals that you know of that build backlinks for you?

Well, instead of relying on what others are telling you. you can try both ways yourself. Find a keyword, and build backlinks with anchor texts. see how that affects your traffic. If you take a step back and look at house the internet works, you understand how the internet works.
I was needing a list of directory with good reputation like these ones. Thanks a lot!!.
