1st Week Of Blogging – Tips That Kept Me Going

I’ve been consistently blogging for about a week now, and I understand why so may folks give up so early.  I’m not here saying that I’m doing everything right because I have ditched a few blogs in the past myself.  So I’m here to show you what has gotten me focused on my goals and what’s keeping me motivated everyday so far.  Here are a few things to help get you in the right mindset for creating a successful blog.

  • Paralysis by Analysis – There are TONS of great bloggers out there along with hundreds of Ebooks, courses, guides, etc.  Anyone can get overwhelmed with information overload and go through “paralysis by analysis”.  Everyone needs to take a step back (maybe check out Zen Habits for a few minutes) and relax.  Many of us are researching online about marketing and blogging, but they don’t have a blog and hosting site yet.  DO IT NOW FOLKS! There is seriously no better time than now.
  • Goals - Once you set your blog up and you’re ready to write, you absolutely need to set a goal for yourself.  Setting goals will get you in the right mindset for success.  You need to write down a reachable goal that you’ll complete each day, week, or month and stick with it.  Not having a definite plan and goal for your blog will lead to failure, and that applies to anything you do in life.  Start small like setting a goal to write at least one post a day, etc.
  • Content - So many people try to create a super money making blog early that they find it hard to write posts a month later.  Write posts that tells something about YOU.  Write why you like or dislike living in your city, what kind of food you like to eat or cook, or your experiences in blogging.  Connect with your readers on a personal level and everything will fall in place.  It’s ok to set your advertisements early in your layout, but noone wants to read a post about how you can make $1000 a day from some with a month old blog.

Great tips.

If you’d like a tool for setting your goals for 2010, you can use this web application:

http://www.Gtdagenda.com

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A Vision Wall (inspiring images attached to yor goals) is available too.
Works also on mobile.

Thanks Dan! GTDAgenda is a paid service, although they do have a basic account that’s free to use. You can also purchase a whiteboard and hang it in your room.
