I keep hearing from bloggers online to blog about your “passion” and the money will follow. What the hell does that mean?! There are many things that people enjoy doing that won’t be a profitable business. What they are really trying to say is in order to keep having fresh content on your blog, you should write about something you enjoy writing about. The theory is if you have experience in something, you won’t have any problems talking or writing about it. I believe every single person are experts in something. Whether its growing orchids, training pets, cooking, you can create a great blog. Here comes the BUT….
If you’re looking to make money blogging about your passion, there are a few things you can do to know that your niche is profitable.
- Magazine Stand – A good indication of a profitable niche is to see the niches that are being published as magazines. The magazine industry is all about making money and they wouldn’t waste their times publishing magazines on non-profitable niches.
- Adwords Check – Type your main keywords in Google and see if advertisers are creating adword campaigns on the right side. It’s safe to say that if people are willing to spend money on PPC , then your niche is profitable. The more ads that show up, the more competition you’ll have. Competition is good in this case, because it’s a sign that there’s money to be made.
- Microsoft AdLab – Visit the Microsoft Ad Center Labs to check your keywords commercial intent. This tool can be used to find keywords that are commercial but have low ad coverage. From a SEM point of view, it is useful to find these keywords as they have low bid density (low price), but high commercial value.
