Getting Rejected – It Happens To The Best Of Us
Growing up, we’ve all face rejection. Some take it better than others, while others would just give up.
- Asking someone out on a date in high school….Rejected!
- Taking that jump shot in front of your defender with 3 seconds on the clock….Rejected!
- Sending your articles promoting your site/affiliate products to get approved….Rejected!
Wait…Articles?!
For those new to the game, Article Marketing, also called Bum Marketing because it can be done with very little investment, can still bring you tons of quality traffic and backlinks to your blog, website, landing page, etc.
What Exactly Is Article Marketing?
Article Marketing is very tedious but very effective. Reason’s why many people give up on article marketing is because writing to an article and submitting them to article directories is free for most article sites. Easy in, easy out. So here’s the gist of article marketing:
- Keywords: Use the Google keywords tool and find a few long tail keyword phrases in your niche that brings in a decent amount of monthly traffic.
- Write Articles: For each keyword, write an article with that keyword in the Title and throughout the body of the article, with a keyword density between 2.5% - 3%. For example, if you’re article has a total word count of 100, only use your keyword 2-3 times. You can then use related keywords to fill in the rest of the article.
- Submit: Submit your article to article directories like EzineArticles.
- Repeat: Repeat steps 1 -4 for each of your keywords and randomly submit them to different article directories online as well as blog sites like WordPress, Blogger, etc. Check out the discussion in the comment section previous post about trackback traffic.
You need to set a goal for yourself and stay focused on what you need to do each day to prevent yourself from failing. There are many reputable article directories out there but the grand daddy of them all that I’m going to discuss in more detail is EzineArticles.
3 Ways To Avoid Rejection
There are many reasons why your articles would get rejected by EzineArticle. But if you’re an affiliate marketer, get ready to be rejected like a 2010 house loan application. I’m kidding. Here are 3 things you should know when adding affiliate links in your articles:
- You must be the owner of the forwarding or redirect url. So no author can submit an affiliate redirect from JackNguyen.com but me.
- You can redirect using the primary url only . I can use JackNguyen.com to redirect my affiliate links, but I can’t use JackNguyen.com/widgets.html.
- Affiliate links should always be placed in the author resource box . You can’t have your links anywhere in the body of the article content.
Follow those 3 guidelines before you submit your articles, and you’ll save yourself a lot of time. Unless you pay for premium membership, it actually takes a long time for EzineArticles to get your work approved because each article gets proofread manually by staff members. All in all, don’t feel bad about getting rejected, and hopefully after reading this posting you will never have to worry about it again!

I usually link to a review of the affiliate product on my blog. This way it increases my blog traffic and gets the people to know me before I promote a product – hopefully building my list.
I can’t say that I have done enough of it to prove it to be a successful strategy yet, but just letting you know how I do it.

That’s the right way of doing it Tom, but sometimes you want to promote affiliate products that are not related to your blog’s niche. Then you’re best bet would be to buy a domain, hosting, and maybe a squeeze page for each unique affiliate product.

Yea, if you could set up a unique squeeze page to get them to join your email list before sending them to the sales page that could really grow your list!

It’s VERY slow and tedious as I mentioned in my post. PPC is definitely the fastest way to get traffic, the fastest to make money, and the fastest to lose money. But It’s a great way see which keywords are converting before you go out and build a site around it. Good luck on your PPC campaigns and SEO Giannis!

For those people that want to get traffic, article marketing is the way to go. but for people like me that want to get good SERPS, i put article marketing at the bottom of my list. I use article marketing just to diversify my link building portfolio.

Article marketing, if done correctly, can and will increase your site’s ranking in the results page of the search engines. Instead of link out like, as Tom mentioned above, you can link those articles to a page of your blog or site and pass that backlink juice back to your own site.
I agree that article marketing is usually the last step for a webmaster, once all the on-page seo is in place, and they’ve built enough content to feel comfortable to start optimizing off-page.

I agree with Jack that PPC is the fastest way to loose money and I would not recommend it to anyone who is not a pro. What do you think about the article mass publishing sites that publish at a slow rate but kind of faster than you would yourself?

I’m all for it as long as they allow you to add links in the resource box somewhere…
