Brussel Sprouts, My Way

A few weeks ago I went to Craft in Los Angeles, which is owned by Top Chef head judge Tom Colicchio.  Other than the fact that I felt fake rich here, I always try to avoid LA traffic as much as possible.  Since it was Dine LA week, a few of my buddies and I decided to give it a shot.  The restaurant was nestled in between skyscrapers and was very elegant, as expected.

One of our side dishes that came out were brussel sprouts (Gross right?).  What the heck is a brussel sprout anyways? They look like pre-mature head of cabbages to me and if they taste anything like cabbages, then I pass.  I’m the type of person that will try anything (well, almost anything) once because I’m a foodie.  To my surprise, those little brussel sprouts were pretty tasty.  Although they were only grilled with probably a boat load of butter, my friends and I knew we could make it better.

How did we make this dish better?  We decided to add candied walnuts and bacon!.  You can throw those two ingredients on a car bumper and it will taste good still.  The image above was taken of our version of brussel sprouts and it was awesome!
