Link Tagging With Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free open-source program to track your blog or site’s traffic metrics, etc. Many of us are familiar with the Google Analytics URL builder to tag our links in our emails.

The only problem I have that many other people seem to have with the URL builder is that it will take quite a while to tag your links if you have a lot of links in your campaigns.

Bulk Link Tag With A Google Spreadsheet

Now I know there are a lot of email services at “automagically” embed these tags for you, but if you don’t want to spend any money on them, try this this free Google Spreadsheet from epikone. Here’s an excerpt that you must read before you attempt to use this spreadsheet:

“EpikOne assumes no liability for use of this tool. Use at your own risk.
To get a better understanding of link tagging and how it is used in Google analytics please

Instructions

Using this tool, you can automatically create large numbers of tagged destination URLs.

1. Delete all data EXCEPT FOR THE DATA IN G8! G8 Contains the master formula.
2. Enter a value for the various campaign tracking variables that you plan to use. IMPORTANT: for variables that you are not using enter a dash (-). DO NOT LEAVE ANY FIELDS BLANK
3. Enter the destination URL for the ad. The destination URL is the URL where the visitor will ‘land’ on your site.
4. Copy the formula to the ‘Tagged URL’ cell for your row.
