How to find blogs with Google with blogsearch.google.com

We rely on Google everyday to help answer our questions like finding the definition of a word, figure out measurements for baking, or even help us figure out the riddles from our know-it-all friends.  Not many realize that Google is also a search engine for blogs.

Find Blogs In Your Niche With Google’s Blogsearch

You can find other blogs in your niche to by going to blogsearch.google.com.  Enter a keyword or phrase related to your niche into the search bar and hit “search blogs“.

On the search results page, there will be listings and listings of blog posts related to your industry.  Here are a few things you can do now:

  • Join the blogs and post comments so that you can build relationships with their readers in hopes that they will visit your blog because you have good things to say.
  • Contact the blog owner and send him a little message about yourself to build rapport with the people in the blogosphere.  Let them know you enjoy reading their blog and that you will recommend your blog to your readers.
  • See if they have the Top Commentators option on their homepage.

Finding Active Blogs on Blogsearch

Many of the blogs indexed on Google are inactive and that won’t help you much.  Luckily on the left hand side there’s an option to check when the latest post was published and indexed in Google.  You can choose the following published options:

  • Last 12 hours
  • Last day
  • Past week
  • Past month
  • Anytime
  • Choose Dates

You can also set a Blog alert from Google Alert to send you an email whenever a blog post gets indexed with your keyword in the post’s title.  After looking at a few hundred blogs, you’ll know which ones are decent and which are scraper sites.
