How To Get Quality Backlinks and Targeted Traffic Using Blog Carnivals

What Exactly Is A Blog Carnival Anyways?

Is it a yearly county fair for elite bloggers only? No, a blog carnival is a way to have multiple bloggers come together of a similar niche by way of submitting relative posts under one host.  This list of relative post links is what you call the carnival.  The easiest way to grasp this idea is to think of blog carnivals as the resources page of a website, where the links in resource page are links from similar sites.

A host is an administrator who creates the carnival post and decides which posts can be added into the carnival.  Think of this person as the webmaster that verifies which links can be added to his/her resources page.

Here’s a great quote from BlogCarnival.com:

We think blog carnivals are a great way for bloggers to recognize each other’s efforts, organize blog posts around important topics, and improve the overall level of conversation in the blogosphere. Carnivals come in edited “editions”, just like magazines or journals. The fact that carnivals are edited (and usually annotated) collections of links lets them serve as “magazines” within the blogosphere, and carnival hosts can earn their readership by providing high quality collections.

Adding a post is fairly easy.  Here’s how I did it:

  • Browse a list of carnivals that’s related to your niche here
  • Once you see a list of carnivals, make sure it is still active and visit the page
  • In the carnival there should be a section where you can “submit post” to carnival
  • You should be redirected to BlogCarnival to fill in your post and site information
