People don’t have time in their busy lives to read full essays written in blogs. Readers get disinterested and leave because they don’t feel like filtering through the words to get what the headline promises to offer. Writing a post in list form is so popular because I believe it’s more fun for people to read lists. List posts are straight to the point and saves the reader time from filtering through paragraphs.
I was reading a post from ProBlogger on writing the perfect list post and found some useful information on how many items you should actually list in the post. One of the strategies I found useful was constructing an odd numbered list (19, 29, 39….. ways to____) and at the end of the post, interact with your readers and have them fill in the last item to complete your list. It’s a great way to have your readers participate in your blog and start the comments rolling.
