The Adwords Time Machine

One of my favorite features of Keyword Elite 2.0 is the Adwords Time Machine. This simple tool allows you to check multiple Adwords advertisers with a simple click. Not only does it show you the advertiser, but it also shows you their actual campaign title and description! This really saved me a lot of time split testing which campaign are successful, more on this later. First step is to enter your main keyword for Adwords, I used “fishing” as an example.

After you enter the keyword and hitting submit, you’ll see a list of current advertisers along with the destination url of their Adwords campaign. Notice the blue tabs under some of the columns of Sept and Nov, well this means that the advertiser decided to change either their Adwords tite, description, or both. An advertiser that has not changed their campaigns for 6 months (no blue tabs shown) means that their campaign is converting well. A word of caution, you might be examining a newbie Adwords advertiser that doesn’t know what he or she is doing, so when analyzing your competitor, do your research on the actual site and check their traffic rank, etc. It’s safe to say that looking at advertisers like Amazon is a good indication that their campaigns are pretty polished.
